Aloo Poha Recipe/Flattened,beaten rice

  • How to make aloo poha :

   



  • Ingredients:
          1. Jada Poha/Thick beaten rice (about 2&1/2 small bowl)
          2. Onion (1 no medium cut long/lengthwise)
          3. Green chillies (3-4 no chopped)
          4. Potato (1 no cut in small size)
          5. Oil (1 tblspn)
          6. Mustard seeds (rai)
          7. Cumin seeds (jeera)
          8. Turmeric powder (haldi)
          9. Salt to taste
         10. Grated fresh/dry coconut to garnish
         11. Coriander leaves to garnish
         12. Lemon (1 no)

  • Preparation & Cooking
          1. Take 2&1/2 bowls of poha/beaten rice in a broad vessel. Add water clean it
              and drain the water immediately and completely.
          2. Heat oil in a non-stick kadhai, add mustard & cumin seeds. After they crackle
              add cut potatoes saute, cover the lid and cook for 2 mins.
          3. Add the onion & green chillies, saute for 2 mins.
          4. Add turmeric powder, salt and mix well.
          5. Add the poha, mix well and cover the lid.
          6. Cook the poha for 5 mins on medium flame.
          7. Now, garnish the poha with grated coconut and coriander leaves.
          8. Serve the poha, add lemon juice and enjoy.

  • Servings: Two
 
  • Notes:
         1. Do not keep the poha soaked in water, as it causes lump formation while
            cooking the poha.
         2. If the poha looks dry, sprinkle little water on the top and mix.
